ColdFusion 9 Developer Tutorial

I got my copy of the ColdFusion 9 Developer Tutorial by John Farrar and I took this long weekend to read it.

As far, so good. John has a very nice way of explaining the language, either for starters or for experienced ColdFusion developers.

The book starts with a general basic view of the ColdFusion functions and then grows in content to the more experienced developer.

I am an expert in ColdFusion 7, with little experience in CF 8. I thnik this book is what I needed to lead me to the CF 9 deal.

For those who are jumping into MS SQL 2008, here are two goo books to purchase. The first one, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management and Administration, is a complete, fast-paced, task-based reference you’ve been searching for. Ross Mistry presents proven techniques for SQL Servere 2008 installation, upgrades, backup/restore, data transfer, indexing and much more.
Another good one is the Pro SQL Server 2008 XML, where Michael Coles shows how to store XML using SQL Server’s built-in XML data type.

The ACME Guide 3rd Edition

Recently, I added to my “Preferred Blogs” list our colleague Stephen Collins from Australia.
I had the pleasure to chat with him over Skype. He is the founder of “acidlabs“, a social media, networking and knowledge economy company and, according to him, there is no more time for ColdFusion programming.
But he has left us a legacy work on his book The ACME Guide, where he creates an environment and documents all the installation steps for CF, Eclipse, servers, etc… This 3rd edition is compliant with ColdFusion 7, still very useful. I recommend the reading of this guide.
