Announcing a new Meetup for The Online ColdFusion Meetup!

What“Building a RESTful Service Layer with ColdFusion”, with Doug Smith

Our 12pm (US ET) talk on Thursday Sep 30 will be “Building a RESTful Service Layer with ColdFusion”, with Doug Smith.

TOPIC DESCRIPTION: (provided by the speaker)

REST-based service oriented architectures have become a popular pattern for offering services that can be consumed by diverse web clients. Using the architecture of the web itself, RESTful services provide a high performance, robust solution without the unnecessary complexities of SOAP and its related technologies.

In this session, Doug will provide a brief introduction to REST as it relates to web-enabled services, demonstrate a service currently used at daveramsey.com to support their 10M+ pageview per month site, and walk through a hands-on implementation where participants will build a RESTful service using ColdFusion 9, Mach-II v1.9, and the new REST Endpoints (created by Doug in partnership with Team Mach-II).

MEETING URL: http://experts.acrobat.com/cfmeetup/
DURATION: Approx. 1 hour
Meeting will be recorded. URL will be posted after meeting at http://recordings.coldfusionmeetup.com

SPEAKER: (provided by the speaker)

Doug is an 18-year veteran software developer, focusing primarily on web application development using Java, ColdFusion, Ruby, Flex and Flash. He currently serves as a senior web application developer with Dave Ramsey’s Lampo Group, providing architecture and development support for daveramsey.com — a 10M+ pageview per month Mach-II/ColdFusion site.

Doug, his wife, and two of their four daughters moved to Nashville in 2008 from the Central Oregon Coast to join Dave Ramsey’s development team.
