Microsoft SQL Server team is pleased to announce the release of SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 (SP2). Both the Service Pack and Feature Pack updates are available for download on the Microsoft Download Center. As part of our continued commitment to software excellence for our customers, this upgrade is free and doesn’t require an additional service contract.

SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 contains fixes to issues that have been reported through our customer feedback platforms and Hotfix solution provided in SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 Cumulative Update 1 thru to Cumulative Update 5. Service Pack 2 also includes supportability enhancements and issues that have been reported through Windows Error Reporting system.

Job Description:

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Develops software applications and code in accordance with applicable requirements documentation.
  • Develops and executes test plans for software system verification and acceptance, and develops required documentation; conducts systems requirements development and allocation; manages software specifications, analyses of software systems, and codes of software modules.
  • Supports the integration of hardware and software systems, and generation of related documentation.
  • Provide both application software development support and sustaining engineering support for web-based systems using ColdFusion, Javascript, and JAVA with Oracle and SQL Server as the DBMS.
  • Ability to work with customers (end users, business unit managers, senior managers) to define requirements and manage issues surrounding software development.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and can fully inform management of pertinent issues and progress on projects.
  • Individuals work with customers to define and document requirements.
  • Also may be required to design/develop database tables in response to requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or a related field, with over 5 years of experience is required.

  • Basic to Advanced SQL Server. Should be able to create and maintain moderately advanced SQL (such as the use of UNIONS and OUTER JOINS). Advanced skills (ie. Triggers, Store Procedures, Indexing, Deadlock troubleshooting) would be highly regarded but not required.
