  1. I was sitting next to someone on the plane who had just come up from Sao Paolo. When I pulled out my Samsung S3 his eyes lit up and he asked how much I paid for it. I said $200 (with VZW 2-year plan which I’ve been renewing for 6-8 years now) and he said it was at least $1,000 in Brazil.

Is it just supply and demand, or does the government have its hands in everyone’s wallets, or are there other skimming operations (bribes) going on? Perhaps all of these are just different angles on the same problem.

I’ve enjoyed your postings, Ricardo – keep ’em up!
